[Hanoi Free Local Tours TOUR REPORT 22/12/2016]
[TOUR REPORT] lầy quá, nhưng noi gương một ai đó nên lại phải cố gắng viết 🙁
– Tourist: Augusta and Sophie Thoo (Australian)
– Hotel: Hanoi Legacy, 39-41 Hang Ga
– Time: Thursday morning (22/12) 9 – 12:30 a.m
– Destination: Sword Lake – Cathedral – Lemon tea – Prison
– Description: It was a short tour and it was quite good. The girls were some years older than me but are very good-looking; one is a surgeon and the other is an engineer. We walked around the streets and they were amazed by the splendid beauty of the cathedral as it was near Christmas and by the cuteness of a bunch of kindergarten children dressing in Noel clothes playing around the cathedral. However, to lead them in the right way in the Old Quarter, I did need some help from the local, which may make me seem less professional as a tour guide (i admitted my drawback to them straight away, but they smiled and said it was okay as they got lost many times in their neighborhood). Eventually, it was one of the tourists using Google map to navigate the way that led us back to the hotel, not me. It was a little bit awkward for me, but the rest was perfectly fine.
(we got beautiful photos but all are in their mobiles phones, only one in my phone)
– Note: có ai biết là k có wifi hay 3G thì có dùng đc google map k? Hay chỉ cần bật GPS lển là đc?
[Hanoi Free Local Tours Tour report]
Guides: Thanh Thanh + Huyen
This was the first time I’ve came to Bat Trang. Huyen convinced me to do the tour with her and I agreed although. I would have an exam next day. She did a good job despite her most attention to the youngest boy (either did I :v).
The family we guided is from Isarel, but they have lived in Hong Kong since 2 years. They have 3 boys, all of them are very cut, especially the youngest boy. He is 5 years old but he can speak 3 languages. He even taught English for Huyen as well, haha. At the first time we met, he came toward and said “Hello, I’m …. (I forgot his name). Nice to meet you” and shook our hands as an aldult. During the tour, we could not stop laughing at everything he did and said.
OMG, I have no more words to express my feeling with him. This was so awesome!

“A Wonderful Expereince”
Reviewed December 6, 2012
We submitted a request for a guide at the last minute and were fortunate to be able to get a tour guide who was available. Our guide, Trang, is a university student studying business here in Hanoi. She is very easy to converse with which was a pleasant change from all of our paid tour guides who we have had to struggle to understand. She took us on a walking tour of the Old Quarter. She explained the significance of the street names and pointed out buildings of cultural and architectural importance. I watched the tourists roll by in the tour buses and thought how much better our experience was. We got to see life on the streets with a local person who could answer our questions from a personal perspective. She also easily handled a lot of questions about life in Vietnam that none of our previous guides had the English skills to deal with. She was a great resource and a wonderful representative of the young people in Vietnam. This is a terrific service that tourists not travelling with a group should be making use of.

“The knowledgeable and friendly free tour guide”
Reviewed April 1, 2013
We read all the reviews and they’re true – this really is a marvellous concept and it would be great to see this in other places around the world. Our guide, a lovely young lady named Hanh (I hope I am spelling correctly) greeted us at our hotel and we were guided through the HCM museum, the temple of literature before heading to a lovely restaurant for lunch. Hanh was very knowledgeable and I would not have taken away the importance of HCM and scholarly pursuits to the Vietnamese people if we did not have such valuable information provided to us. Hanh was also curious about our life in Australia and getting to know us. We spent a few hours after lunch around the Hoan Kiem lake and Old Quarter and had a great day. This lovely young lady does these tours on her one day off each week – we were really impressed with her knowledge and love of her culture. Thank you so much

“Wonderful experience with Local Tour Guides!”
We had booked our 1 1/2 day tours with HANOI FREE TOUR GUIDE last October 2013. They are very accommodating even though we had only 2 weeks left before our trip.
On our first day, we had a delayed flight from Singapore and we have set an appointment with HANOI FREE TOUR GUIDE at exactly 2:00 pm. Upon arrival on our Hotel, Dat was already waiting for us. At first, we are worried that we couldn’t understand him but surprisingly, Dat speaks English very well. He asked us to put our stuff first inside the room and he patiently waited for us before we start the tour. Before heading for the tour, he made sure that he knows what we want to see. To summarize our tour with Dat, we went to restaurant nearby the Hoa Lo Prison (price is okay). After having our Vietnamese lunch we went to Hoa Lo Prison and we had walking tour from Hanoi Opera House to Sofitel Metropole and then to our last stop the Turtle Pagoda. He drop us off at our Hotel. He is a real gentleman.
Second day (AM Tour), we met Star Dust (we forgot her Vietnamese name). She accompanied us to go to HCM Complex. She seems a bit lost in HCM Complex (at first) and probably her first time to tour a tourist in HCM Complex but it is still alright and acceptable. Her English is not that fluent but so far, we can still understand her. She also shared with us a little bit of a history in HCM Complex and we enjoyed our food in the restaurant (price is a bit expensive). My friend also had a wonderful time with her as she is teaching my friend a simple Vietnamese words while we are having our tour. She is very witty and fun to be with.
Second day (PM Tour), since they are all students, they also need to go to school. For the second half day tour, we need to change our tour guide and we are glad to finally meet Hang! Hang is the very first member of the HANOI FREE TOUR GUIDE and she has been a tour guide for so long! She explains everything and very very detailed. She is also patient and she never gets tired of walking inside the Temple of Literature. Museum of Ethnology and Turtle Pagoda/Restored Sword Lake + Ngoc Son Temple. Kudos! We are almost over for the day tour with Hang but I had another request, I wanted to try the egg coffee and it was so delicious! She is very professional in what she is doing and I would say that she is one of the best tour guide in HANOI FREE TOUR GUIDE.
To Dat, Star Dust, Hang and to the rest of the team, you have given us a wonderful trip in Hanoi. This trip will be in our minds for a long time. Many thanks and best wishes for the future!

Great Hanoi city tour with Hanoi Free Tour Guides ” Tripadvisor
Hanoi Free Tour Guides was very prompt and professional in their email reply when I send a request for a Hanoi full day tour for 10 adults + 2 kids. We indicated the places where we wanted to go and nothing was too difficult for them. We were assigned 2 guides Phuong and Mai Anh, who emailed us a day prior to the tour. They picked us up separately as our group stayed at 2 different hotels. They spoke fluent English and Mandarin and were good with young kids and elderly =) Perhaps even better than the paid guides. They brought us to Ho Chin Minh Complex, One Pillar Pagoda and Literature Temple explaining the history and significance of the places, giving us a lot of interesting facts that were little known to many. We requested for a good egg coffee place, and they bought us to a quaint local cafe for desserts and coffee. They also brought us to a nice family friendly restaurant for lunch with delicious Bun Cha. The tour was free, and you only need to paid for attraction admissions, transportation and lunch which should be within USD 10 per pax. Thumbs up for Hanoi Free Tour Guides. I recommend everyone to go for them. You will be missing out if you don’t.

First of all, I am so sorry for the late report because of some problems. Hjxhjx. Jean is very friendly and knowledgable because he had been a history teacher in High school for 2 years. I guided him to Bach ma temple, a place our free tour guides were trained well, Sword lake and Hoa lo prison. I was very happy that he sounded very pleased about the tour. I just planned to guide him to try egg coffee on the way to his hotel. But while coming to the coffee shop, he was quite hungry so I guided him to try Banh Canh ghe in Nha Chung street, quite confused hehe because I had never enjoyed it there. Luckily, he was very interested in this cuisine and “Nha Đam”juice. ^-^. As you know,we was going to organize the Halloween party in that night. So I asked him to invite Huyen to chat in Cong coffee next to Hanoi cathedral. Of course he is very willing. We had successfully invited him to our party although he said thatbhe was too old to join with us. But it was not problem. If you think You are old, you’ll be old. If you think you are young, you’ll be young. Our party was very wonderful and brought some new and meaningful experience to him
And thank Jean again for giving us an excellent review on tripadvisor

Hanoi Free Private Tour Guides Report
I wonder if I was lucky or not on that day. At first, I applied for a 1:30pm tour from Hanoi Free Private Tour Guides’ Diretor but when I arrived the hotel, the receptionist told me that the tourists were not at the hotel. Then the tour was cancelled. OMG!!! And I decided to guide another tour at 2pm . Lucky me! 2 tourists booking a free private tour with our club coming from Malaysia are university students as well so we were excited to share together about our study and passion. Cadmon who really likes taking photos and recording videos about everything on his journey to make travel video and I was really interested in his videos which he showed me. When we visited a primary school on the way to their hotel, they were really excited with the students’s reaction there =)) One more time, I was invited to travel to Malaysia. Finally, we said goodbye to each other and they gave me 20 ringgits as a gift. This tour was a memorable experience.
Thank hanoi Free Private Tour Guides for giving me this oportunity of guiding these such amazing travellers.

“Nice and friendly local guides”
Chris from Spain
This experience is way more than what I expected. I was very happy to meet my new guide May and her friend Cuong, who brought me to another side of Hanoi. They brought me to the local restaurants that I would not have been able to find on my own, and we had such a great time visiting the museum and trying out food together. It is a must-have itinerary for everyone’s trip and I would recommend it to anyone who’s visiting soon!
“Great evening with Hanoi free private Tour guide”
Noorties from London
This tour was really nice! We did more of a street food tour, because it was almost evening and not many sights would be open in Hanoi. Still a lot of fun. We ate traditional local food and had some drinks. We had a lot of fun exploring the city and talking to locals. Thats how you best experience the culture!!
